INDEPENDENT DAY PROGRAM

The Independent Day Program is a structured service designed to support adults with disabilities in developing essential life skills, fostering independence, and engaging in meaningful community activities. The program focuses on personalized goals, including daily living skills, social interaction, vocational training, and recreational activities. Participants receive guidance in areas such as money management, communication, and self-advocacy, empowering them to navigate their daily lives with greater confidence. Through a combination of hands-on learning, community outings, and individualized support, the program promotes personal growth, social inclusion, and enhanced quality of life.

The mission of the Independent Day Program is to empower adults with disabilities by fostering independence, personal growth, and community inclusion. Through structured support, skill-building activities, and meaningful social engagement, we strive to enhance each participant’s confidence and ability to navigate daily life. Our program is dedicated to promoting self-sufficiency, dignity, and a higher quality of life by providing a safe, supportive, and enriching environment where individuals can thrive.

The Independent Day Program was founded by Elissa Hurley, a special education teacher in the Orange County area, dedicated to advocating for individuals with disabilities. Seeing a need for continued support beyond the classroom, she created a program where adults with disabilities can build life skills, gain confidence, and engage in their communities. Rooted in her passion for independence and inclusion, the program provides personalized support in daily living, social interaction, and vocational training, ensuring every participant has the opportunity to thrive.
